GEORGE HARRISON

Ever wonder what's up with western cultures fascination with India?? This guy might be to blame...

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of George Harrison's death... Among other events there will be concerts in Liverpool at The Cavern Club & St. George's Hall and flags flown in his honor. And a commemorative event at his star on the walk of fame in Hollywood.

Don't know much about the quiet Beatle? check out this documentary... George Harrison: Living in the material World. Five years in the making, the 3.5hr film was pieced together by none other than Martin Scorsese.

Here's a pic of the surviving Beatles (and yoko) with Scorsese at the opening.

TED LOVE

If you don't listen to TED talks... well, you should (that's about as convincing as I get). TED is a great platform for interesting people that are saying stuff worth listening to (aka Ideas Worth Spreading)

Take for example... Thomas Suarez. A 12 year old app developer. You can't make this stuff up.

INTERSECTION ARTICULEE - Ballet de la lumiere

If you have been wondering what those lights above Montreal are I have good news. We have not been invaded by aliens (refer to THIS). Actually we are just the latest landing pad for an exhibit by Montreal based artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer whose previous interactive works have been presented in the world's largest cities.

An article on the installation reports "What's fascinating about the experience is that it's a social interaction that takes place in the sky. Even as human participants control the beams from terra firma they intersect and interact in the skies above Montreal, creating a kind of celestial encounter. You really have to experience it to understand it fully."

The enormous 10 000-watt spotlights can be seen and controlled at Le Parterre in the Quartier des Spectacles as part of La Triennale Quebecoise 2011 until November 6.

MATTHEW COX - EMBROIDERED X-RAY

'For Philadelphia based artist Matthew Cox the increasing presence of photography in contemporary art has stirred up some strong creativity. He expresses this by superimposing a tedious medium like embroidery onto an often instant medium like an X-ray print.'

And you thought you'd seen it all...

With the increased use of programs like Photoshop you see some pretty amazing "photography" floating around the web these days. It makes it difficult to differentiate between real photos and altered photos but at the same time makes innovative artists like Natsumi Hayashi really stand out!

FALLINGWATER by Frank Lloyd Wright

Soo I hope everyone that reads my blog (cough...my family...cough) had a good looong weekend!! WOW the weather was amazing!  AND I got to check an item off my bucket list,  whoop!

So here it is.... pics from Fallingwater one of the most popluar homes built by amazing architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the home so we made the trip to Pennsylvania.

It was definitely worth the 8 hour drive from Toronto :D

Karissa and Keaton Enjoying the view...

We stayed one night at the Blum House at Polymath Park built by one of Frank Lloyd Wrights apprentices in the classic Usonian style...

fun fact: In 1936 when the US was in an economic depression Wright developed a series of homes called Usonian. (Usonia being an abbreviated term for United States of North America). Designed to control costs, these homes were one level with no attics, basements or ornamentation on concrete slabs with piping for radiant heat. (Check out more pics of this house after the jump!)

We also happened to catch a Pittsburgh Steelers game vs. Tennessee Titans, which I am still thinking about as i watch the burn peel off my shoulders from the 30 degree sun that beat down on us for 4 hours ... good times

Heinz Field - over 60 000 fans
(we were literally the only ones NOT dressed like a Steeler... awkward)

SEASON OPENER CANUCKS VS PITTSBURGH TONIGHT 7PM

So even though we live in Montreal we are die hard Canuck fans... (refer to photo montage) ... and to prove it (to ourselves?) we take a road trip every year when they make their way East.

Listen to the following song to get the full list of places we've visited... ;) bahaha

ANYWAY we spent the good part of post season watching them get their pucks handed to them  in Chicago and Boston :(

BUT EVEN after last years frightening terrifying traumatizing series the warm fuzzy feeling hasn't  dissipated... you gotta love em! (and anyway... i blame the green men) hehe

Check out some pics from the last couple road trips.
