Comme Des Enfants - Coeur de Pirate
This adorable singer calls Montreal home. This song specifically is reeeally catchy but actually her whole album is awesome. I have tried to see her live quite a few times but she has a way of cancelling every show I try to get to! Will keep trying...

What's the opposite of a heat wave?
So maybe this is normal for "iceberg season" in St. John's, Newfoundland but I was pretty shocked to see these photos of a 260 square km chunk that floated over from Greenland's Petermann Glacier last August.
Apparently it's normal to see three or four this time of year but they have had 25 icebergs just 16 km off the shoreline - the greatest iceberg season in recent history WOW
Would probably be worth the trip to check them out!
Paul McCartney - Bell Centre
So maybe i'm amazed we are going to see PAUL McCARTNEY TONIGHT IN MONTREAL...
I will let you know how it goes even though I already know it will be amazing. hehe

Le Bremner
Friday night was dinner at Chuck Hughes new restaurant. We had high expectations going in but I can say it lived up to the hype. The chilled menu was super fresh and everything from the bread to dessert was original and delicious. I was dying to try the lobster parfait that everyone has been talking about but my favourite ended up being the cornbread with grilled shrimp.
They recommended sharing plates so you could try a bit of everything - after doing that, I agree that it's the only was to go. Each dish is flavourful enough that you are finished after a couple of bites and ready to try something new.
Even though it was 37 degrees the service didn't suffer and the terrace was full. Call early for reservations.

Marshall McLuhan by Douglas Coupland
As Promised...
for more info on McLuhan check out the latest addition to the Penguin collection conveniently written by another canadian Douglas Coupland - a vancouver based writer - most known for his book Generation X.
Even so...his language is still worth looking into and Coupland offers an entertaining translation of his best stuff. I recommend!

Commemorating 100 years of Marshall McLuhan
This great Canadian communications genius would be 100 today... funny how someone can become more relevant to a future generation then to the one he was part of. In the sense that he predicted the internet before it was developed...and that understanding social media is such a huge part of our lives.
My all time favourite McLuhanisms:
"The medium is the message"
"All advertising advertises advertising"
"People don't actually read newspapers. They step into them every morning like a hot bath"
If you aren't familiar with him...wait for my next post!
Nuit Blanche Short Film
This is an amazing short by director Arev Manoukian and produced by Stellar Scene Pictures.
Raised in Montreal by a family of artists its safe to say he received the creative gene.
Check it out when you have 5 minutes...you won't regret it.
The actors were shot in front of a green screen and the rest is technology... i mean history ... if you don't believe me...check it out: the making of nuit blanche

ABstract EXpressionist - Art Gallery of Ontario
"Abstract Expressionist New York: Masterpieces from The Museum of Modern Art opens May 28 at the AGO and features more than 100 works by the legendary artists whose drips, splatters, and fields of incredible colour catapulted New York to the centre of the international art world in the 1950s and changed the course of art history forever. On view for just 14 weeks, this landmark exhibition — a Canadian exclusive — features era-defining works by Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell, and Franz Kline, among others, and will be on view through September 4."

I've been twice and plan to go again if anyone is up for it... amazing display, perfect venue.
I don't think there is anything more epic than a retrospective of a living designer, you know you have arrived when.

Winnie the Pooh ... POOH
EEEEEKK
... is what I thought when I saw the first trailer for the new Winnie the Pooh.
I was decidedly unprepared for how excited I am to see this movie, to my surprise i spent the morning wondering which of my friends would let me take their child as an excuse to go opening night...
I was tickled to find out that Zooey Deschanel wrote and performs songs for the movie and covers the Sherman Brother's title song. And thankfully Disney sticks to the past with classic 2D animation
